If you are a Baptist -stay there. If you are a Catholic-stay (news)

by AC @, Monday, December 01, 2008, 15:14 @ AC

Why do I say stay a Baptist or a Catholic? Because all the other denominations are either in/or moving towards heresy (even Apostasy). And they have for the most part cast off "Apostolic Tradition", or what the Apostles of Jesus taught us.. We have Lutherans, Anglicans and others - all now allowing woman priestesses and/or homosexual priests/ministers. Some are teaching the heresies of mandatory "Saturday" Sabbath, Vegetarianism and don't Baptise Infants. Certainly I think the Catholic policy of celebracy may fall into the later day "doctrines of devils" the Apostle Paul warned us about. But, can it be that depending on how an individual priest or nun accepts this celebracy --it could be an individual sacrifice by the priest and nun -to God? They know in advance after all, just what they're getting into. And they accept it. I do note that some independent Baptist churches are teaching the Vegetarian heresy. So beware.

Paul tells us in 1 Timothy 4:6 that it is our responsibility to point out these heretical doctrines. "6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained."

I just received a "statement of beliefs" from a "Church of God". It's clear that these people are heretics. Like Jehovah Witnesses, they do not believe in the Trinity, and that Jesus is God also. They want newcomers to sign a statement confirming that, as well as their errors on the Saturday Sabbath. Many churches also teach the lie of this age: "Vegetarianism".

It's beyond me just how they can explain: And Thomas answered and said unto Him [Jesus], "My Lord and my God." John 20:28 or "For unto us a Child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder: and his name will be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6 or Jesus saying: "I and my Father are one." John 10:30 - See more references about Jesus being God also, one with the Father.

Paul makes it plain that the Spirit has expressly said that these doctrines of demons would occur in the last days:

1 Timothy 4:1-5: "1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer." (KJV)

Didn't Noah live to be over 900 years old? As a "meat eater"? God's statement to Noah after the “re-creation”. “Every creature that is alive shall be yours to eat, I give them all to you as I did the green plants” (Genesis 9:3). God's only restriction is “Only flesh with its lifeblood still in it you shall not eat” (v.4). If eating meat is so terrible, why would God punish the righteous Noah “a good man and blameless in that age, for he walked with God” (Genesis 6:9)? God added further restrictions in the Mosaic Covenant (see Leviticus 11; Deuteronomy 14:3-21). These restrictions were only to last as long as that covenant with the Jews was in existence. These restrictions helped to keep the Israelites separated from the Gentiles.

Certainly I agree that it is probably not a good idea to eat a lot of meat. And for some it is probably more healthy to eat just very little lean meat. But I agree with the Apostle Paul that this "later day" doctrine of vegetarianism as a doctrine has no place in Christianity.

Infant Baptism
Likewise, we know that the Apostles went into homes and baptised entire families, including infants. So from an "apostolic tradition" standpoint - to fall for these made up doctrines including disallowing infant baptism is mean, and perhaps very risky from a spiritual standpoint. That's because Jesus told us we MUST be baptised with both water and the Holy Spirit.

Polycarp (69-155), a disciple of the Apostle John, was baptized as an infant. This enabled him to say at his martyrdom. "Eighty and six years have I served the Lord Christ" (Martyrdom of Polycarp 9: 3). In his Dialog with Trypho the Jew, Justin Martyr states that Baptism is the circumcision of the New Testament.

SATURDAY SABBATH WAS GIVEN TO THE HEBREWS/JEWS:

CHURCH OF GOD placed their own "us" in Scripture when THEY wrote in their Statement of Beliefs:

The Sabbath (from Ex. 20:8,10,11; Deut. 5:12). The Sabbath is the sign between us and God who makes us holy (Ex. 31:12-14); and

Who was Moses speaking to in Exodus 20? He was face-to-face and speaking to the children of Israel, the Hebrews, the Jews!

Seventh Day Adventists and their off-shoots like this Church of God seem to be confounding unaware Christians over the Saturday versus Sunday Sabbath issue. Is this a financial "recipe for success" for Seventh Day Adventists and the Church of God? Is this "cloudy" teaching swelling their ranks?

Doesn't the Bible tell us in a straight forward way that the Saturday Sabbath was given specifically to the Jews as a reminder of the Exodus (Exodus 31:16–17 & Deuteronomy 5:15)? There is no mention of a Sabbath as being given to Christians in the New Testament. Sure, Jesus kept the Saturday Sabbath. But Jesus was an observant Jew who was under the Jewish "Law". Jesus' mission was to the "Lost Sheep of Israel". He was speaking to the Jews.

Ignatius of Antioch (who was taught by the Apostles of Jesus)
"[T]hose who were brought up in the ancient order of things [i.e. Jews] have come to the possession of a new hope, no longer observing the Sabbath, but living in the observance of the Lord’s day, on which also our life has sprung up again by him and by his death" (Letter to the Magnesians 8 [A.D. 110]).

The Letter to the Colossians instructed its readers that Sabbath observance was not required (See Colossians 2:16-17). If one wants to do it let them make that decision to return to that "bondage".

16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

SABBATH WORSHIP GIVEN SPECIFICALLY TO THE JEWS. MOSES MAKES THIS QUITE CLEAR:

The Word of God makes it quite clear that Sabbath observance was a special sign between God and Israel: "And Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, "Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel: 'You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to Myself. Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be
a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine'" (Exodus 19:3–5).

“Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed” (Exodus 31:16–17). Note: It says; "the children of Israel).

In Deuteronomy 5, Moses restates the ten commandments to the next generation of Israelites. Here, after commanding Sabbath observance in verses 12–14, Moses gives the reason the Sabbath was given to the nation Israel: "And remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day" (Deuteronomy 5:15). (Note: Moses tells us, the Sabbath was given to the nation of Israel).

Christianity even more befuddled in these "later days"

and these confused/heretic Priestesses?

Episcopal Priestess
Praying to a pagan god (Allah)

Episcopal priestess Ann Holmes Redding praying at a Muslim mosque to a strange god that lies that God has no son, and that Jesus didn't even die on a cross. Muslims teach that if you believe Jesus is God's Son, then you will go to Hell. What does this confused priestess believe? In the "god" who creates and inspires sin (Allah). Or, the true God who is so Holy He cannot be in the presence of sin. But He loved us so much He came to earth to take our sins on Himself...

This veteran Episcopal 'priestess' says she became a Muslim just over a year ago and now worships at a mosque Fridays – but that hasn't stopped her from donning her white collar Sunday mornings.

"I am both Muslim and Christian, just like I'm both an American of African descent and a woman. I'm 100 percent both," 'Rev.' Ann Holmes Redding told the Seattle Times.

The Greek word apostasia is used here for the “falling away.” It is from this word that we derive the English word “apostasy.” Apostasy is defined as “a defection from the truth,” or “a departing from that which was given at first.”
